CALM Bath Salts

As you might have guessed from my blog name, I’ve always found comfort in water. Oceans, pools, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and, maybe not surprisingly…baths! I’ve been in the market for new spa accessories for awhile so when I came across these bath salts from HERBIVORE I knew I had to try them

HERBIVORE has long been a favorite brand of mine, so I check in every few months to see what products should be next on my test list. I own several of the clay soaps, so I thought it would be a good idea to branch out into a new product. After reading reviews for a few different products, I decided to try out the CALM Bath Salts.

One of my favorite things about HERBIVORE is their packaging. The brand has a very streamlined aesthetic and let’s the product speak for itself. I loved that the gorgeous hue of the crystals are visible through the bottle and add color to my bathroom without clashing with my other products.

After a particularly stressful day, I decided to give the bath salts a try. I didn’t expect to be so impressed, but I can honestly say you should run to buy these bath salts. The scent is absolutely incredible, and my skin felt so soft after I toweled off! I used about a quarter of the bottle, and spent about 25 minutes soaking. By the time I was ready to get out, all the crystals had dissolved and the room was filled with relaxing steam. What more can you ask for?

Bumble and Bumble

I’m all for hair of the dog, but not when it comes to the top of my head. After a month of summer sand and sun, I noticed my mane was looking a little worse for the wear. I’ve always loved Bumble and Bumble products so I decided to browse for a few pick me ups. I’m super picky when it comes to hair products so I never buy full sized until I’ve tested out the product first. That means first time use is restricted to generous friends and sample sizes! In this case, I went with the sample sizes.

I settled on a few products from the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s line (all invisible oil products). I chose the Balm-to-Oil Pre-Shampoo Masque, the shampoo, and the conditioner. It seemed like a perfect trifecta!

I started with the masque. When it comes to this product, a little goes a long way! You just need enough to fully coat the strands of hair. I squeezed out the suggested amount and warmed it in my palms before applying it to my dry hair (since dry hair absorbs more product than wet hair will). I’ve read reviews where people leave this product in their hair overnight, but I just left it in for about 30 mins.

Once the masque had had time to work it’s magic, I used the shampoo to wash out the product and the conditioner to seal the moisture. I’m not a huge fan of blow drying (especially not when I’m trying to reverse damage) so I towel dried my hair and waited for it to air dry. I have to say I was impressed! My hair felt SO soft, the way it does right after you leave the salon. I’ve already ordered the full size products, and can’t wait to make them part of my regular routine.

Why I Love My Jade Facial Roller

Ok so I did it, I fell for the newest beauty craze, the jade roller. I know it looks like some weird alien instrument, but I’m going to tell you why I’m completely in love with it.

Have you ever been to a spa where they put the cucumber slices over your eyes? Lo and behold, there’s actually a reason for this—the coldness of the cucumbers is supposed to have a soothing, anti-inflammatory effect. A jade roller is basically the non-edible equivalent of cucumber slices, for your whole face (and neck).

Jade rolling has been practiced by Chinese royalty for centuries, in order to draw out negative chi, but has just recently gained widespread popularity.

Benefits include:

  • Increase blood circulation
  • Reduce redness & inflammation
  • Assist lymphatic drainage
  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines

Jade is a naturally cold stone, but I heard that storing your jade roller in the fridge could amplify its effects. I tried out my jade roller for a few weeks without putting it in the fridge, then switched over to the fridge, and I definitely prefer it colder.
