I’ve gotten into redecorating lately, and my most recent project is my bathroom. Before it was pretty plain and I didn’t really have any decor, so I decided I wanted to spice it up a little. Maybe it’s overdone but I love a good beach-themed room, and I do live in Carmel-by-the-Sea, so it sort of makes sense.
I was searching Pinterest for some cute DIY ideas and came across seashell candles, which I thought would be the perfect accent piece for the bathroom! It was surprisingly easy actually, and turned out really cute, so I thought I’d share it with you!
All you need to make the candles themselves are some shells and tea lights, both of which you can easily find at your local craft store.

I started out by popping the candles out of their containers and cutting off all the wax around the wick, preserving the wick. I broke up the wax a bit with a knife so it would melt faster.

In a small saucepan over low heat I melted the wax until fully liquid, then ladled the hot wax into each candle. While the wax was still hot I stuck the leftover wicks into the center. The wax dries very quickly once in the shell so make sure you get the wick in there quickly!
I filled a little ceramic tray with aqua sand and a few smaller shells and voila! Perfect bathroom decor in less than 30 mins.
Have you tried making these? Do you have other cute beachy DIY decor ideas? Let me know in the comments below!
xoxo,
